As a Celtic symbol, the Horse was associated with the virtues of battle. This made the horse a symbol of victory, conquest, longevity, wealth, honor, valor, and triumph in battle in Celtic culture. The Celts hailed the Horse as the beast belonging to the Celtic sun god Lugh and assigned it a place with the Celtic goddess Epona.
